Alfonso Ruiz Rallo made Bachelor in Fine Arts in 1988 at the University of Barcelona in the speciality of image. Since 1993, he is Doctor of Fine Arts, which he also finished in  the University of Barcelona. Now he is a teaching professor of Design Theory in the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of La Laguna.

He was a member of a team formed for developing a project to design degree courses in Faculty of Fine Arts, including undergraduate degrees in Fine Arts, Design and Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Property. Submitted and accepted in the second round of the ANECA , the project was delivered on June 15, 2004 . Currently he heads the research project "PROCEED", focusing on eco-design for sustainable local development, which is developing models of making paper packaging and paperboard made of invasive plant species.

He was Deputy Director of the department of Management for academic drawing, design and aesthetics between years 2000 and 2002. Furthermore a deputy dean of Academic management of the Faculty of Fine Arts from 2003 to 2008. Today he is the Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of La Laguna since February 2008.

He was a founding member of "La Mirada" film production. There he performs the tasks of art direction with digital post-production coordination, special effects supervision and advertising. In his work as an art director in the productions of La Mirada, he produced short films such as "La Rama" with Andrés M. Koppel in 1996, "Roulette" by Roberto Santiago, in 1998 and the feature film "Happy Men" by Roberto Santiago in 2001 and "The Baron".
